Since it’s the weekend, I thought I’d post about a few of my favorites places in Los Angeles. As you can imagine, one can find just about anything out here. If you’ve thought of it, LA can most likely provide it; even in the most bizarre way or fashion. There is also a whole lot of class here, and that is what we aim for 😉 Regardless, this city definitely always keeps life interesting.
When I have an event or an audition, it’s great to be able to get my hair done. Any girl knows how nice it feels to have their hair washed and scalp massaged for them. Most of the time you have to go to a salon & pay for other services as well, in order to have this done. Well out here we have something called DryBar 🙂 Now I know this is not just available in California, although this place is definitely new to me! In Utah we don’t have anything like this. DryBar is a place where you can go get your hair washed and styled in any way that you like. My favorite style on the menu is probably straight up with a twist. They have a whole bunch to choose from, including up-do’s. It is also pretty inexpensive! You can buy a blowout in a box and all of their products are available to you as well. It is so much fun! Such a great atmosphere. Honestly if I had the money, i’d be in there just about everyday. Truly it is the best feeling to just be pampered every once in awhile.
Now I’m sure you’ve all heard of ‘juicing.’ LA is famous for being ‘in’ on every fad out there, and we’re usually the first to know. Just about everything involves some way to lose weight or get in shape. Now that it’s January, cleansing and cleaning up your diet has obviously escalated. For me, juicing gets my body back on track and overall I just feel better. Pressed Juicery is my favorite place to visit. They have anything from one to three day cleanses, and they sell all of the individual juices. The seasonal flavors they have are the best! For fall they had yam, cinnamon and mint flavors. Normally you have the choice to choose from: greens, citrus, roots, fruits and the signature flavors. They have coffee and almond milk blends, tea and water as well. Mmm mm. Sometimes I go in just to sample ones that I haven’t tried and I always come out with at least a couple of bottled juices. Each cleanse serves a different purpose, whether it’s quite nourishing for your body or it detoxifies. No matter what you choose, you’ll be happy with your purchase in health and in taste.
Let’s see, I am also pretty obsessed with the malls out here. Sometimes I’ll just go to walk around, admire the shops, and people watch. If you haven’t been to The Grove, I suggest you pay a visit. Along with the many great stores – from Nordstrom, to Uggs Australia and the Top Shop – there’s a hidden portion where you can visit the Farmers Market any day of the week. You can find so many great locally grown foods, at a very low price. Basically any market you can find with home made goods, is the best option. Oh and don’t get me started on Trader Joe’s…. Now I only go grocery shopping there! Also, the Glendale Galleria is pretty amazing! I could get lost at that massive outdoor mall that is somewhere around 1,600,000 square feet. All I can say is Wow.
Anyone who is not from around here, absolutely needs to check out these great places. I am constantly finding new favorites and I’m pretty much hooked; although I am always wanting to find more. Any suggestions you may have are welcome! I cannot get enough of the warm weather, numerous beaches, and the fresh sea food. If you want a great hike – go to Runyon Canyon. Looking for a great view? Head up to Hollywood Hills. Want a nice cafe to hang out at…. check out Urth. Need some sun? Well i’ll take you to Santa Monica Beach, Hermosa, Manhattan beach or Malibu. For me, a perfect day off would entail:
Taking class (preferably ballet)
Going on a hike
Grabbing a coffee at Urth
Walking around the outdoor mall, and
Heading over to the beach at night for seafood!
Oh and I can’t forget, getting my hair or nails done 😉
Yup that sounds pretty much amazing! I may like my girl time, but boy do I like the outdoors. If there was a game on (most likely football) I’d be okay with that too 😉 Well I hope y’all are having a great weekend! Rest up because I think it’s going to be a wonderful week.
Until text time,
